This is suited to a reliable and safety-conscious professional with a solid background in gas industry projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, assemble and maintain pipe systems, supports, and related equipment for gas AGI operations.
- Interpret isometric drawings, schematics, and layout plans accurately.
- Cut, thread, and hammer pipes to specification using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders.
- Conduct hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests to verify system integrity.
- Work in line with health and safety procedures and site-specific RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Collaborate with other trades on site and communicate clearly with supervisors and engineers.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
- Proven experience working on Gas AGI systems or within the gas utilities sector.
- Relevant qualifications in pipe fitting or mechanical engineering (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
- Valid CSCS card or equivalent safety passport.
- Experience with heavy-duty carbon steel, stainless, and welded pipework installations.
- Understanding of gas safety standards and mechanical isolation procedures.
- Full PPE and ability to bring task-specific tools.
- Strong commitment to site safety, quality, and productivity.
- SCO tickets (e.g. SCO 1, 2 & 5)
- Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheel, and First Aid Training
- Confined Space or Working at Height certification
- Previous experience working on National Grid or gas terminal sites
- 12/4 shift rotation pattern (12 consecutive working days followed by 4 rest days)
- Outdoor environment, working in all weather conditions
- Long hours and physical demands, including manual handling of equipment and tools
